Sunderdhunga is approximately 24 Kms from the village Khati. From Khati one has to go to village Jatoli, which is 7 Kms away. Jatoli is the first night halt enroute to Sunderdhunga Glacier. From Jatoli upto Dhungia Dhaun, about 8 Kms. is a tough trek. One should spend the night in Dhungia Dhuan either in shepherd huts or in pitched tents. Beyond Dhungia Dhuan, it is necessary to take a guide even for experienced and professional trekkers. The next halt is Kathalia, which is 6 to 7 Kms. from Dhungia Dhaun. From Kathalia one can go to both Sukhram and Maiktoli glaciers. They are in opposite directions, 7 Kms. from Kathalia. Sunderdhunga glacier lies over sunderdhunga valley and situated west of Pindari Valley. It is surrounded by peaks Panwal pdwar in north and Mrigthunii, Mongtoli and Tharkot in the west. The elevation of the glacier spans from 3200 mtrs to 6050 mtrs. Sunderdhunga literally means “Valley of beautiful stones”. The famous glaciers of this valley are Maiktoli Glacier (6804 M) and Sukhram glacier and main peaks are Tharkot (6100 M), Mrigthuni (6856 M), Maiktoli (6804 M) and Pawali Dwar (6663 metres).
